David's profound passion for wine blossomed during his formative years in the hospitality industry, where he began his career at the age of 15, spearheading the opening of a P.F. Changs in Walnut Creek, CA. Over the years, he cultivated his expertise, managing multiple restaurants across the West Coast while pursuing his education at Chico State. It was during this time that he developed a fascination with the art of pairing wine with cuisine, dedicating himself to the study of oenology.
His career highlights include serving as Beverage Director at The Vine at Bridges in Danville, where his exceptional wine program earned the prestigious Grand Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator and he garnered two James Beard Nominations. In 2014, he ventured to Napa Valley, assuming the role of General Manager at The Bounty Hunter, where he elevated the wine program and spearheaded an award-winning whisky selection then developed a franchise model with the team. Subsequently, he joined the winemaking team at Cade Estate Winery on Howell Mountain, contributing to the production of acclaimed Cabernets.
His tenure in Napa continued with the launch of Auburn James Winery and AXR Napa Valley, where he played pivotal roles in directing hospitality and sales. Concurrently, he embarked on a venture in Hospitality Consulting and spearheaded the Michelin on Tour project, showcasing elite wine brands through bespoke dining experiences.
In 2019, driven by a desire to prioritize family, he transitioned to John Anthony Vineyards, where he achieved notable successes in Direct-to-Consumer Hospitality and Sales. Presently, David serves as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Collin Cranor's esteemed brands, Nottingham Cellars, Typicité, and Grape Culture, overseeing all aspects of their operations in Napa Valley's renowned Crusher District.
